Riverside camping in Constable Country since 1958
Rushbanks is a family-run campsite on the banks of the River Stour in Dedham Vale. Since 1958, the Bates family has welcomed campers who want a simple, friendly stay with one very special feature: the river right on your doorstep.
If you want a weekend that feels like a proper break
Most people come to Rushbanks for the same reason: they want to slow down, get outside, and do something memorable together—without overplanning.
Here, you can wake up by the water, spend the day outdoors, and finish with a campfire and a sunset.
The Rushbanks “signature”
We’re especially popular with canoeists and paddleboarders. With our on-site hire and local routes, it’s easy to turn your stay into a mini adventure—including our favourite option: Paddle to the Pub at The Anchor Inn in Nayland.
A campsite run by people who care
Rushbanks is now run by Gareth & James Bates, continuing the same family tradition of keeping things straightforward, welcoming and well looked after. If you’re new to camping or new to paddling, we’ll help you get set up and point you in the right direction.
